================================================================ FreeCORE-15.0-STABLE - release notes ================================================================ ---- FreeCORE-15.0-U1.1 (2026-09-01) ------------------------- FreeCORE 15.0-U1.1 is a corrective maintenance update for FreeCORE 15.0-U1. FIXES: - Restores the phttpget helper required by iocage for release downloads and updates. - Restores the collectd data-set definitions required by system reporting. ---- FreeCORE-15.0-U1 (2026-08-27) --------------------------- FreeCORE 15.0-U1 is a focused maintenance update for the conservative TrueNAS CORE 13.3-compatible landing zone. MAINTENANCE FIXES: - Incorporates the FreeBSD 15.1-RELEASE-p3 security and errata corrections. - Restores headerless, tab-separated output for the affected iocage -H/--header commands, including clean jail-name parsing for zsh completion. - Corrects a stray doubled character in the monochrome FreeCORE boot logo. - Corrects the rar2fs Seek Length help text to identify 0 as the default. - Shows the Network dashboard card before Pool cards for new/default dashboard layouts. This update does not add the 15.1 Angular work, OCI/Podman, Bastille, Applications, or other unrelated 15.1 platform changes. ---- FreeCORE-15.0-RELEASE (2026-08-21) ---------------------- FreeCORE 15.0 is the first stable FreeCORE release. It preserves the TrueNAS CORE 13.3 appliance model while moving the base system to FreeBSD 15.1-RELEASE-p2 and the middleware runtime to Python 3.11. HIGHLIGHTS: - Fresh installation and in-place upgrade from TrueNAS CORE 13.3. - A persistent, explicitly managed return window retains the prior 13.3 state after an in-place upgrade, with visible held-space accounting and manual removal. - WebAuthn security keys for WebUI second-factor authentication and one-time-password support at local and serial consoles. - Native DRM graphics support for sharing a host GPU with jails. - Native rar2fs service support, including configurable seek-length behavior for large multi-volume archive collections. - A restored modern web terminal, WireGuard in place of OpenVPN, bectl boot-environment management, and dhcpcd networking. - Samba 4.24 and refreshed base, package, WebUI, and API components. - Vendor telemetry and enterprise-only failover, KMIP, Fibre Channel, enclosure, proactive-support, and cloud-management surfaces removed. UPGRADE NOTES: - The base-system package requires a reboot. Allow the appliance to complete its migration and reach middleware READY before intervening. - Review the return-window state before enabling new pool feature flags. A pool upgrade can make return to the retained 13.3 state impossible and is therefore guarded by explicit confirmation. - Read the FreeCORE 15.0 release documentation before upgrading a production appliance: https://docs.freecore.org/releases/freecore-15.0/
